Our Patroness Lord Mayoress Simone Borris

Simone Borris

"Art is a medium that enables a special form of coming to terms with even difficult topics - regardless of language knowledge, competence and level of education."

We were able to win over our Lord Mayoress Simone Borris as the patron for this year's exhibition. We want to draw attention to these issues and raise awareness on a different level. Especially the good connection to the city and to the equal opportunity commissioner there, Mrs. Ponitka, is very important to draw attention to the topic of violence against women and girls. We talked to her about the relevance of the topic and its visibility, her role as patroness and her pleasure in the interaction of city society, culture and science. To the interview

Background of the event

Orange the World_Logo

The exhibition is part of the annual UN campaign "Orange the World" against violence against women. It aims to draw attention to this issue, which is exacerbated by COVID-19.

Why orange? The color serves as a symbol to make violence against women visible and to confront it as one of the most common human rights violations. Various organizations around the world are participating in the campaign and, for example, illuminating central buildings in orange.
