Place 3: Campus web project

Universities are required by law to ensure that students with disabilities and chronic illnesses are not disadvantaged in their studies. The goal of accessibility is to remove structural, communicative and didactic barriers at the university. The web project shows how this can be implemented in a contemporary way on our campus.

Situation analysis

Teaching and learning are not always barrier-free in terms of mobility, communication, information or arrangements in face-to-face events.

Goal

The goal is to raise awareness about barriers on the OVGU campus and to provide important and helpful information. To this end, barriers of all kinds as well as barrier-free access points are to be identified. Contact points are to be highlighted with pictures and comments. The focus is on the expansion of already existing resources.

Concept

  • Information material should be linked on the website (e.g. handbook "Studying with Disabilities" from the German Student Union).
  • Important contact data such as contact persons of the faculties, service center, equal opportunity commissioner, etc. should be stored.
  • Students should have the possibility to exchange experiences, tips or information in a comment area or to point out barriers themselves.
  • The website should be easy to find online. In addition, QR codes should be placed on campuses.
  • For implementation, a possible draft of a website with a campus map has already been created with detailed information on accessibility.
