Further training to raise the profile of academic career

OVGU is pursuing a significant increase in the proportion of women at all levels and in all areas where they are underrepresented, but especially in leadership positions in science, research management and administration.
Funding for continuing education is intended to flank women's career paths from graduation to post-doctoral qualification and appointment, and to promote the participation of women scientists in collaborative projects and research networks.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • doctoral and post-doctoral students (up to 6 years after completion of the doctorate; child-rearing periods are taken into account with an additional 2 years per child).
  • financing of further education once a year up to a maximum of 800 euros

What exactly is funded?

  • payment of fees for moderating online conferences
  • Men are encouraged in further training and awareness-raising in the context of equal opportunities
  • in order to support one's own scientific career, participation in workshops and trainings can be (partially) financed, which serve the following topics:
  • media training (digitalization, IT competence and web presence)
  • acquisition of third-party funding
  • management of research projects
  • organization of teaching and events
  • writing, publishing, science communication
  • leadership skills and expertise for committee work

How can I apply for funding?

  • Discuss with your supervisor the type and scope of your time off for further training and thus show your interest in professional development.
  • The application and billing process is handled by your department using the university's internal forms. Check in advance whether the continuing education is eligible for financial support from the Office for Gender Equality (examples can be found above under funding opportunities). If approved, costs may be reimbursed by the Office of Equal Opportunity Affairs via invoicing after participation in the continuing education. Alternatively, check whether a financial advance from the department is possible. This can be reimbursed to the department by the Office for Gender Equality via rebooking order.
