"Men's worlds" by Joko and Klaas shook up millions of viewers

Even in the current times of crisis, other important issues must not be allowed to go under. Almost half of all women in Germany have been sexually harassed at least once. The two comedians Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heuer-Umlauf are otherwise only known from various pranks and comedy actions from German television. A few days ago, however, the duo showed themselves from a different side by making a 15-minute short film about sexism against women - with shocking pictures and stories. You can find the full length video here

Logo dbb-Academy Online offer of the dbb Academy

The digitalisation of the world of work is currently receiving a huge boost. The need for further training is correspondingly high. In the coming weeks, the dbb Academy will continuously expand its digital learning offerings - primarily webinars, which are ideal for getting started in digital learning. Another advantage: many participants only have time for small knowledge bites that can be booked with little effort.
The webinars take place in a virtual seminar room via Adobe Connect. For this, either the Adobe Connect application or a browser plug-in must be installed. Firewalls or routers must not block port 1935 (RTMP). This may have to be clarified by the respective IT department. You will need a PC or laptop with microphone to participate. The use of a webcam is voluntary and not a prerequisite for participation. On the dbb Academy's homepage you will find an overview of the webinars offered.

Conference documentation of the Gender Congress 2020 published

The presentations and most important results of the event are now available in a conference documentation. to the documentation

Corona and equality of opportunity

The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) has compiled information on the impact of COVID-19 on equal opportunities and equality in Europe.
Also of interest is the EIGE Glossary and Thesaurus provided by the EIGE. This continuously updated collection of specialised terminology on the topic of "gender equality" is produced in close cooperation with the European Commission, the European Parliament, the United Nations and the scientific community. In addition, the EIGE's statistical data collection on gender is thematically broad, highly differentiated and interesting not only, but also in the context of the corona pandemic. It contains precise figures on, for example, the proportion of women in the health sector in the EU (76%) and differences between the Member States (the Baltic States have the highest proportion of women). There are also statistics on the gender pay gap and, of course, on the participation of women in research. All information, statistics and the glossary can be found here

Corona and equality at universities: Good Practice Collection

Under this title, bukof (Bundeskonferenz der Frauen- und Gleichstellungsbeauftragten an Hochschulen e. V. - Federal Conference of Women and Equal Opportunities Representatives at Universities) has compiled an overview of the opportunities that are being used at German universities to deal with the corona pandemic. to the overview

Women are the main bearers of the crisis

Systemically important occupations are a tough business. According to the DIW (German Institute for Economic Research) in Berlin, a significant proportion of these occupations have a female share of more than 70 per cent, in areas such as nursing, retail or even education in educational institutions and schools. The educational staff in kindergartens and preschools is even 93 percent female. Characteristic of these areas are low pay and the call for financial and social upgrading. In addition, women often work part-time - this puts pressure on wage replacement benefits, for example in the case of short-time work, and is exacerbated by the tax category V chosen by many women. In short: women are the main bearers of the crisis. Together with the DGB, the GEW is calling for immediate family support for parents and carers. Against this background, the union welcomes the DIW's initiative to introduce corona parental leave with a corona parental allowance. more

Study still confirms gender-related prejudices in MINT subjects

At the request of the FEMM Committee of the European Parliament, the "Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs" of the European Parliament has prepared a study on "Education and employment of women in science, technology and the digital economy, including AI and its influence on gender equality". It concludes that gender bias and inequalities still exist in the MINT subjects (mathematics, informatics, science and technology) and in the digital sector, including artificial intelligence. The study includes a literature review of the current state of education of and jobs for women in STEM fields and the digital sector. Corresponding career paths (from primary school to employment) are examined and examined for obstacles. Finally, suggestions are made for future research, initiatives and strategies to improve the participation of women in this field. Download the study
