About COMETiN

COMETiN consists of four modules: COACHING, MENTORING, TRAINING and NETWORKING. In addition, it offers a framework programme (Opening event, Interim evaluation event, Closing event) - participation is obligatory for the mentees and their mentors are cordially invited to join.

Module 1: COACHING

Careers and status passages of young female scientists are often linked with tensions and conflicts. In group and individual coachings, the participants are offered the opportunity to process professional and career related topics and issues within the framework of a confidential consulting relationship. Thus they get the chance to gain new perspectives and to strengthen their personalities. 

Module 2: MENTORING

In a one-to-one tandem relationship with an established professor or a senior executive from academia, research or industry, the participants are being supported and counselled,

relationships provide:

    • individual and strategic support in career planning
    • hierarchical and intergenerational exchange of experiences
    • informal knowledge about the rules in science
    • attention, emotional strengthening and encouragement

Module 3: TRAINING

Target-group-specific trainings strengthen the professional skills of the participants and prepare them for future leadership roles. In interactive groups professional trainers impart practice-oriented knowledge of methods and work on improving existing key competences.

Module 4: NETWORKING

Careers are made in networks! COMETiN supports young female researchers in their networking practice by promoting the expansion of their own networks and helping them connect with established networks. Intensive and long-term mentoring relationships and relations between the participants may become profound and useful contacts for all parties. Information and networking events on career related topics provide the participants the opportunity to expand their network and to exchange with experts.
